Court Orders De-registration Of Accord Party, ADC, Others
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and four other political parties.
The order was made by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court to de-register five political parties in his ruling on the suit filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/2026.
According to him, the affected parties have persistently failed to meet constitutional performance thresholds of section 225 of the 1999 Constitution.
He opined that Section 225 of the 1999 Constitution gives the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the power to deregister parties that failed to meet the constitutional threshold.
The parties affected are African Democratic Congress, ADC, Actions People’s Party, APP, Action Alliance, AA, Zenith Labour Party, ZLP and Accord Party, AP.
