Pregnant Woman Working as Logistics Supplier and Cook to Kidnappers Arrested in FCT, Delivers Baby Boy in Police Custody

The FCT Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on kidnapping and banditry across the Federal Capital Territory.

 

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja this morning, the FCT Commissioner of Police. CP Ahmed Sanusi, said, following a recent anti-kidnapping and rescue operation held on June 9, in the Paze–Byazhin area of the FCT, four suspects were apprehended.

 

The Police Chief said that during the operation, four suspects identified as Yahaya Abdullahi, Muhammed Yunusa, Hauwa Shafiu and ⁠Shamsudeen Mustapha were arrested.

 

CP Sanusi stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are part of a criminal network involved in kidnapping and banditry activities within and around the FCT.

 

He mentioned that one of the suspects, Hauwa Shafiu, who operates as a logistics supplier and cook for the criminal gang and their hostages, was heavily pregnant at the time of her arrest and subsequently delivered a healthy baby while in Police custody.

 

He added that adequate medical attention was provided to both mother and child.

 

CP Sanusi mentioned that items recovered from them include four motorcycles, thirty-one pieces of 500mg tablets of tramadol, ten pieces of 50 mg tablets of tramadol, three hundred and twenty thousand-naira cash, and five phones. One POS machine and Cooking utensils.
