National Immunisation Plus Days: HFDI holds Strategic Meeting On Sensitisation

Hope For Family Development Initiative HFDI has held strategic meeting on sensitisation of the populace on the National Immunisation Plus Days for children in the states such as Osun, Kwara and Akwa Ibom.

The planning and sensitization meeting involving SMC members on the upcoming first round of the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDS) vaccination campaign scheduled to take place from the 3rd to 6th of May 2025, highlights children aged 0–5 years.

The campaign focuses on the immunisation by administration of oral polio vaccine (OPV), marking the first such campaign for the year.

During the meeting, SMC members were adequately briefed on the importance of the NIPDS campaign and their critical role in mobilizing communities for successful implementation.

Emphasis was placed on the need for widespread awareness and the timely dissemination of information to parents and caregivers.

Participants were encouraged to engage community leaders and stakeholders in their areas to boost acceptance and participation in the immunization exercise.

Several strategies were discussed and adopted to ensure broad coverage and accessibility of the vaccine. These included the house-to-house approach, as well as outreach to public institutions such as churches, mosques, and schools.

The  strategic meeting objective was a call for collective effort and commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind, as the goal remains the total eradication of poliomyelitis in the country.
