UNIMED VC Urges Ondo Women Leaders to Unite for Transformational Leadership
Women leaders in Ondo State have been urged to unite and deploy their positions of authority towards transforming institutions and improving the lives of citizens.
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, gave the charge on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Nibalola Resort, Ondo, while delivering the keynote address at a one-day capacity-building workshop organised by the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development for female leaders.
The event was attended by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Seun Osamaye, alongside Permanent Secretaries, heads of parastatals, directors, administrators and other prominent women leaders in the state.
Speaking on the theme, “Women, Unity of Purpose and Transformational Leadership,” Adejuyigbe said women occupying leadership positions had a responsibility to use their offices as platforms for meaningful change rather than personal achievement.
She said unity among women did not mean total agreement, but the ability to overcome differences and pursue a common purpose for the development of society.
According to her, transformational leadership goes beyond maintaining existing systems to improving them and creating lasting structures that would benefit future generations.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged women leaders to support, mentor and recommend one another, stressing that the success of one woman should not be perceived as a threat to another.
“Another woman’s light does not make ours dimmer,” she said, urging participants to deliberately create opportunities for younger women to rise.
Adejuyigbe also called for integrity, continuous learning, emotional intelligence, courage and humility among women in leadership.
She urged the participants to build workplaces where competence and excellence are recognised, while ensuring that motherhood does not become a barrier to women’s professional advancement.
She said the legacy of the current generation of women leaders should be measured by the institutions they strengthened, opportunities they created and the people they lifted.
“Let us lead—not for the applause of today, but for the transformation of tomorrow,” she said.
