Content Wahala: Magistrate Court Orders Popular Tiktokers To Marry Within 60-Days

A Magistrate court sitting in Kano has ordered two popular TikTokers, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, to marry within 60 days.

 

The order followed the duo’s appearance in viral videos deemed “indecent” and their subsequent arrest by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.

 

The viral video which showed Idris and Basira engaging in romantic gestures, were described by authorities as contrary to the moral and religious values upheld in the state.

 

Ruling on the case on Monday, Magistrate Halima Wali directed the Kano State Hisbah Board to facilitate the marriage of the duo.

 

She warned that failure to conduct the marriage within the stipulated timeframe would be treated as contempt of court.

 

The court also directed the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to oversee the implementation of the marriage order
