BREAKING: Governor Ademola Adeleke Wins Osun 2026 Governorship Election with 66,252 Votes
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC under the coordination of the election returning officer, Prof Joshua Olalekan, has declared Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, winner of the August 15, 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.
The INEC’s Returning Officer announced the final result on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 7:46am,, at the INEC State Collation Center in Osogbo, after collation of results from the 30 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to INEC, Governor Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, against his major contender, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO of APC party who scored 444,815, thereby having a win of 66,252 votes to defeat other candidates in the race.
The third place was taken by ADC candidate Najeem Salaam who had 17,180 votes, followed by ADP 2,946, CNP 2482, AA 2,308, APGA 1,474, AAC 1,458, YPP 534, APM 234, SDP 155, NNPP 118, APP 114, DP 111and PRP 83.
The declaration was met with jubilation by Accord supporters and particularly Osun people who trooped to the streets of Osogbo, Ede, Ikire, and Iwo to celebrate the victory.
The Returning Officer commended voters, political parties, and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and orderly election across the state.
Security personnel were on ground at the collation center to maintain law and order during the announcement.
Political stakeholders and observers described the election as largely peaceful and credible. Supporters of the PDP hailed the outcome as a renewed mandate for Governor Adeleke to consolidate on his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, health, and workers’ welfare.
The Governor is expected to address the people of Osun shortly.
