INEC OSUN KICKS OFF 2-DAY CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR STAFF AHEAD OF 2026 GOVERNORSHIP POLL

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Osun State on Tuesday, commenced a two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Election Administration for its staff at Halatria Hotel and Towers, Osogbo.

 

The workshop, sponsored by DAI NG-EUSDGN,  aimed at strengthening the capacity of election officials in the effective management and administration of electoral processes ahead of the #2026osungovernorshipelection.

 

Delivering her goodwill message at the opening ceremony, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, for Osun State, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, said the training was designed to equip members of staff with the requisite knowledge and skills to ensure electoral procedures are efficient, transparent, credible, and inclusive.

 

According to the Osun REC, the workshop provides a platform for participants to examine key concepts and principles of election administration, including: Election preparation and logistics management, Voter education and strategic communication, Election technology and BVAS operations, as well as Election result management, and collation procedures.

 

Mrs. Babalola noted that sessions would focus on best practices, innovative strategies, and lessons learned from previous electoral experiences, with the goal of enhancing the Commission’s readiness for 2026 Osun decides.

 

She expressed confidence that through robust discussions, interactive sessions, and knowledge-sharing, staff would strengthen their professional capacity, acquire practical skills for addressing emerging electoral challenges, and contribute significantly to the successful conduct of #osun2026governorshipelection.

 

The workshop reinforces INEC Nigeria’s commitment to delivering credible, transparent, and inclusive elections in line with global best practices and democratic principles, – the REC added.

 

Participants were drawn from various departments of the Commission are expected to engage actively in the sessions throughout the two-day programme.

 

The capacity building is part of INEC Osun’s early preparations to ensure a smooth, hitch-free governorship election in 2026.
