End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights: HFDI Advocates with Kwara State Ministry of Health in Community Outreach
Hope for Family Development Initiative, HFDI joined the Kwara State Ministry of Health and other adolescent-friendly organisations to commemorate the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child through a community sensitisation outreach at Mandate Market, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The outreach reached thousands of people with key messages on ending child marriage, protecting girls’ rights, preventing violence and abuse, promoting access to education, advancing gender equality, and investing in the health, well-being, and empowerment of the girl child.
In addition to community sensitisation, the outreach featured free health testing services, providing an opportunity for market users and community members to access basic health screening and receive relevant health information.
According to HFDI, this integrated approach combined advocacy for girls’ rights with efforts to promote health awareness and encourage access to essential health services.
The engagement also encouraged collective action towards eliminating harmful practices that threaten girls’ safety, development, and future opportunities while promoting a supportive environment where every girl can learn, grow, and thrive.
Through the participation, HFDI reaffirmed its commitment to advancing adolescent health, safeguarding girls’ rights, and strengthening community engagement in collaboration with government institutions and other stakeholders.
Invest in girls’ rights today for a safer, healthier, and more equitable future for every girl, – HFDI stated.
