INEC OSUN SENSITIZES CORPS MEMBERS AHEAD OF 2026 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION, SAYS NEUTRALITY, PROFESSIONALISM, INTEGRITY ARE NON-NEGOTIABLE
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Osun State visited the NYSC Orientation Camp to conduct a sensitization programme for Corps Members as part of preparations for the forthcoming 2026 Osun Governorship election.
The visit was aimed at educating and enlightening Corps Members on the electoral process, their roles as potential adhoc staff during elections, and the importance of maintaining neutrality, professionalism, and integrity while participating in electoral activities.
The INEC representatives highlighted the significance of credible elections in sustaining Nigeria’s democracy and emphasized the critical role Corps Members have played over the years in ensuring free, fair, and transparent electoral processes across the country.
Officials also provided technical briefings on key election duties, including:
Operation of BVAS* The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System’s role in voter accreditation through fingerprint and facial recognition technology.
Polling Unit Process Proper polling unit arrangement, from voter accreditation to ballot casting and counting of votes, and Electronic Transmission Transmission of results through designated INEC platforms to enhance transparency.
The sensitization exercise was interactive, with Corps Members asking questions and receiving clarifications on various aspects of election management and conduct.
The programme concluded with a call for patriotism, dedication to national service, and commitment to upholding democratic values as the nation prepares for the Osun 2026 Governorship Election.
