ASUP National Exco Holds Joint Congress at OSCO-HEALTH, Ilesa

The National Exco of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics(ASUP) on Tuesday stormed the campus of the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa for some important oversight functions of the Union.
The visit afforded the National Exco of ASUP to hold a joint Congress as well as a head count and an orientation programme for members of the union in the College.
The team was led by its National President, Comrade Shammah Sunday Kpanja and accompanied by other members of the Exco into the waiting arms of the Chapter Chairman, Comrade Ayo Ogungbe and his members.
Speaking during the orientation, ASUP National President, who was represented by the Formal ASUP Zone ‘C’ Coordinator, Dr Dr Olawale Adetunji, (A.K.A Omo Oba Orun) told members that the essence of unionism is not to fight but to establish a good relationship between staff and employer.
The National President urged members to organize themselves in a conscious manner such that it will not be fight to finish between them and their employers, stressing that labour unions are created majorly to negotiate in a manner that will benefit both parties.
He also advised members to be aware of the extant laws of the Union and put in mind the rules of engagement so as not to look stupid and run fowl of the laws while at the negotiation table.
The ASUP National President then commended the Comrade Ayo Ogungbe led exco for the transparent and accountable manner in which they have been steering the ship of the union at the College.
Also speaking, the Zone ‘C’ Coordinator of ASUP, Comrade Masopa Nurudeen urged members of the Union at the college to stay united and support the chapter leadership to succeed in the bid to negotiate for a better welfare for them.
While speaking on the essence of the orientation, he stressed that crisis will always be a part of life which we must decide on how to handle.
Earlier in a welcome address, the ASUP Chairman, OSCO-HEALTH Chapter, Comrade Ayo Ogungbe commended the National Excos of the Union for their visit to the College, while assuring them that the Union will continue to grow at the institution.
