Osun Govt, PWDs Celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Lauds Disability Law

The Osun State Government and stakeholders celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, with a call for continued support and inclusion of persons with disabilities in the state.

 

This is as the Persons with Disability clusters lauded Osun government for Disability law, while calling for its implementation, during a rally held in commemoration of the celebration

 

In his remarks, Rotarian Ayobami Oyewumi, Executive Secretary for Osun State People with Disability Agency, said the government is committed to the welfare of persons with disabilities, and is working to ensure that they are included in all aspects of society.

 

He added that Osun State Government has pledged to continue to support persons with disabilities and to ensure that they are included in all aspects of society.

 

“We will continue to work with organizations and stakeholders to ensure that persons with disabilities are included and empowered to contribute to the development of our state.”

 

Also speaking at the event, Mrs. Eni Ayeni, Executive Director of Community Advancement Initiative for Social Reliance CA4IRS, lauded the state government for passing the Disability Law, saying it has brought about a significant change in the lives of persons with disabilities in the state.

 

“We are seeing a turnaround in the lives of persons with disabilities in Osun State, thanks to the Disability Law and the establishment of the Bureau,” she said.

 

Mrs. Abdullahi Fumilayo, a stakeholder for the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability, also spoke, saying that the government has made significant progress in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities.

 

She added that “however, there is still more to be done to ensure that persons with disabilities are fully included in society,” she said.

 

The event was marked by speeches, performances, and exhibitions showcasing the talents and abilities of persons with disabilities.
