Recruitment: Ondo CP debunks alleged corruption
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Asabi has described as untrue the allegations that the ongoing police recruitment exercise is marred with corruption and irregularities.
The CP confirmed that the process is improving every year.
He particularly warned the applicants not to bribe any officers under the pretence to help them secure job, even as he said anybody caught involving in the unprofessional conduct will be prosecuted accordingly.
“I don’t know where you got that information that the recruitment process is faulty because everything is improving every year. The only thing is that there could be technical issues which is not what anyone could be blamed for.
But the process is going on accordingly and it is an improved process as there is no faulty situation as at now. The exercise will be on for a period of three weeks, we hope it will not go beyond that time range that is why we are working round the clock to ensure it is so,” he explained.
CP Asabi listed the basic official requirements from applicants to include five credits including Maths and English, and other physical requirements such as 6.5 feet tall for male, and 5.4 feet tall for female.
“Anybody that don’t meet up with the standard will not pass through the stage. If you don’t have five credits including Maths and English, you can’t go beyond the first round. Then we have other physical features that will be taken to consideration. These are the starting point and by the time they are through, they will now go for the CBT examination.
After the CBT, those who meet the merit will go for medical tests. In each local government, we will have 10 successful applications enlisted after everything would have been completed.
We have enlightened members of the public that they should not allow themselves to be deceived by anyone who claimed to have connections to help them to join the police force in exchange for money. There is nothing like that, nobody can connect anyone unless they pass through the standard procedures.
“We have equally enlightened the public that they should not take part in such. Even if you go there now, you will discover that money is not being exchanged and anybody that is involved will be prosecuted accordingly,” he concluded.
