New Osun NAWOJ Chairperson Pledges Association’s Support to State Government

The newly installed Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ in Osun State, Comrade Abisola Ariwodola has pledged the Association’s support to the State Government in her developmental endeavor, even as she appealed to the State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, to prioritize inclusion of women in his administration to jointly develop the State.

 

This statement was made at the swearing-in of new executive members to pilot the Affairs of the Association for the next three years.

 

In her inaugural speech as Osun State NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Ariwodola thanked the information Chapel for ratifying her candidacy to represent them, she also appreciated members of the Association for voting her and other executives to lead the Union.

Abisola who was the former Secretary of the Association seized the opportunity to call on the stakeholders in Osun to support the amazing women leading organization which she refered to as the “frontline in advocacy for women, children and the vulnerables.”

 

While speaking, the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Osun Chapter, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu appreciated God for the privilege to serve the Union, acknowledging the patience and wisdom of the outgoing Chairperson, Comrade Motunrayo Ayegbayo, describing her as a committed diligent and highly reverred person.

 

Congratulating the State Information Chapel of the Union for producing the new Chairperson and Financial Secretary of the Union, he enjoined all and sundry to support the new NAWOJ leadership to enhance success in the fresh assignment.

 

Also speaking an emeritus NUJ Chairman turned cleric, Bishop Seun Adeoye, former chairpersons of the association Mrs Jibola Falode and Toyin Adeoye, as well as the Chairman of Veterans Association in Osun, Prince Adepoju Atobatele, charged the executives to work as a team, hinging that anyone who can not serve have no business holding a position, urged the association to be focused, and ensure good representation of the female journalists in the state.

 

Other executives of Osun NAWOJ are: Oluwaranti Ojewumi, Secretary; Taiwo Kekere-ekun, Assistant Secretary; Olayemi Olojede, Financial Secretary; Temitope Olayiwola Treasurer as well as Anuoluwapo Odedeji, the Internal Auditor.

 

Present at the swearing in ceremony was the Vice- President, B Zone, Comrade Adekunle Adeola, who maintained that NAWOJ will continue to support women, the girl-child, persons with disability and vulnerables, adding that the objective of the association must be promoted.

 

Other guests at the Osun NAWOJ election and inauguration include the Zonal Secretary Mrs Adeola Adewole,  Secretary of Veteran Journalists Association, Mr Sola Ajiboye, and chapel members, to mention but a few.
