HFDI Joins ECEWS in Osun for HTS Data Validation Exercise to Strengthen HIV Reporting Accuracy
The Hope for Family Development Initiative (HFDI) participated in a joint HIV Testing Services, HTS, Data Validation Exercise held at the ECEWS Office in Osun State to strengthen data quality and ensure the accuracy of HIV testing records and reporting.
The exercise, held recently, brought together key program staff to review and validate data from field implementation.
According to HFDI, the validation process involved a thorough review of HTS registers and a line-by-line comparison of source documents with reported data. The team worked to identify discrepancies, omissions, and inconsistencies in entries.
Speaking on the outcome, the team said the exercise was aimed at verifying figures, ensuring alignment with national reporting standards and program requirements, and reinforcing accountability in data management.
“The validation exercise enhanced the quality and reliability of HTS data by improving the accuracy of records and strengthening accountability in our data management processes,” HFDI stated.
Beyond verification, the session also provided a platform for knowledge sharing between HFDI and ECEWS staff. It reinforced the importance of complete and accurate documentation to support evidence-based decision-making and effective program implementation.
As a follow-up, HFDI and ECEWS agreed to institutionalise routine data quality assessments and strengthen data management practices to ensure timely and accurate reporting across supported sites.
Officials noted that lessons learned from the exercise will guide future validation activities and contribute to improved program performance and service delivery in HIV prevention and treatment in Osun State.
ECEWS, the Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme, is a key implementing partner for HIV programs in Osun and other states, working with CBOs like HFDI to deliver community-based health services.
