The Management and staff of the Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board (PHCDB) have celebrated the 2025 Christmas season alongside the PHC Challenge Awards in grand style, following the emergence of Osun State as the overall South-West Champion for the second consecutive time.

The celebration marked another milestone for the Board, as Osun PHCDB was adjudged the best-performing primary health care system among states in the South-West zone, a feat that earned the state a prize of 5,000 US dollars for the second year running.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Shina Igbalaye, attributed the achievement to the unwavering commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke to the revitalisation and upgrading of primary health centres across the state. He noted that the governor’s investments in the health sector have significantly improved service delivery and positioned Osun as a reference point in primary health care in the region.

Dr. Igbalaye also commended the dedication, professionalism and teamwork of the Board’s staff, describing their commitment as the driving force behind Osun’s emergence as the leading state in primary health care delivery in South-West Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr. Owolabi Azeez, thanked members of staff for their hard work and resilience, urging them to sustain the momentum and strive for even greater achievements in the coming years.

Dr. Igbalaye further encouraged staff to continue working diligently to consolidate the gains of government investment in the health sector, stressing that the successive victories at the PHC Challenge Awards reflect the collective effort of management and staff. He concluded by appreciating the workforce with Christmas festivities in recognition of their contributions to the sector’s success.
