2026 Governorship Election: Osun INEC Partners Salim Radio To Improve Publicity 

The Hon. REC Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, today received a courtesy visit from the management team of Salim 92.3 F.M, Ikirun. The visit was aimed at seeking collaboration with the Commission in preparation for the forthcoming #2026governorshipelection in the state.

 

The General Manager of the radio station, Mrs Dupe Akinyemi emphasized the media house desire to become a reliable partner and the mouthpiece of the Commission by providing timely and accurate information to the public. She noted that in an era where rumours and misinformation can significantly influence the mindset of the electorate, it is crucial to have direct access to first-hand information on INEC’s activities.

 

The team expressed concern over the growing trend of public distrust due to the spread of unverified information, but assured the Commission of their commitment to responsible journalism and their readiness to work closely with the Commission to bridge the information gap between Inec Osun State and the electorate, promising their willingness and dedication to civic education and voter sensitization, aimed at deepening public trust and participation in the electoral process.

In his remarks, the Hon. REC. Dr. Agboke , in company of the new Administrative Secretary, Mrs Adelusi Victoria Temitayo, Heads of Departments and Heads of Units of the Commission, appreciated the visit and welcomed the proposed collaboration, acknowledging that INEC cannot succeed in its mandate without the active support of media partners. He emphasized the critical role of the media in combating voter apathy, vote buying, electoral violence, and misinformation. The REC expressed optimism that the partnership with Salim Radio Station would help foster a more informed and engaged electorate as Osun State prepares for the 2026 Governorship Election.

 

The Hon. REC also used the opportunity to inform the station of the forthcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), scheduled to commence on the 18th of August for online registration and on the 25th of August for on-site registration. He requested that the information be widely publicized through their platform to ensure maximum public awareness and participation.

 

Highlights of the visit included the presentation of INEC Election Regulations and Guidelines as well as group photographs.
