CLHIV: HFDI Takes Advocacy To Ballah Community On Priority Intervention

By Shuaib Anifat,

Stakeholders in Ballah community of Asa local government area of Kwara state were paid advocacy visit by Hope for Family Development Initiative because of Children Living with HIV (CLHIV).

The Hope for Family Development Initiative (HFDI) conducted the advocacy visit to Ballah Community Primary School, the only primary school in Ballah, as part of its initiative on ongoing community engagement and support strategy, particularly in communities with high percentages of Children Living with HIV (CLHIV).

The advocacy visit was primarily aimed to intervene and identify critical needs of the school, with a focus on infrastructure, as well as assessing the possibility of renovating the school’s abandoned toilet facility, thereby improving the sanitary condition for both pupils and staff.

The HFDI team led by the Executive Director, Ambassador Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele alongside others had productive interactions with the school management, community leaders, and PTA representatives.

The Executive Director explained the purpose of the advocacy visit, emphasizing HFDI’s interest in addressing urgent school needs, especially those affecting hygiene and access to safe sanitation by the target beneficiaries.

The Head Teacher and PTA Chairman expressed their appreciation for the visit, and highlighted the need for the renovation of the abandoned toilet facility, noting that the current lack of proper sanitation poses serious health and safety concerns for the school community.

With HFDI’s commitment to community-driven development, it also made its advocacy visitation to community Head of Ballah, where the traditional leader warmly received the team and expressed deep gratitude for HFDI’s visit and consistent efforts in supporting vulnerable groups within the community.

He particularly appreciated the organisation’s commitment to Children Living with HIV (CLHIV) and marginalized populations and he assured the team of the community’s full support in any intervention program which HFDI may intends to carry out.

Hope For Family Development Initiative HFDI is a non-governmental committed to working closely with rural communities to promote health, education, and social wellbeing for all, especially the vulnerable and marginalized people.
