HFDI Conducts School Outreach On Mental Health, Time Management
In order for the future generation to have a healthy lifestyle, Hope for Family Development Initiative HFDI conducted school outreach on mental health, and time management.
The outreach session held at Regina Rex High School assembly ground in Akwa Ibom state.
Speaking on behalf of the HFDI Team, Nsisong Utip defined mental health as emotional, psychological and social well being, stating that It impacts thinking, feeling and influences our ability to cope with stress, interact with others and make choices.
According to her, mental health is a state of wellbeing that allows individuals to realize their potential, cope with life stresses, learn, work and contribute to their community.
She added that as adolescents, they should be self-aware when they are mentally stressed as a result of lack of food, school fees, examination, family issues, sickness among others, maintaining that this could lead to depression.
Nsisong used the medium to encourage the students to seek medical help whenever the need arises so they will overcome mental health and its associated problems.
Also, Victoria Uyoh who spoke on time management described it as a process of planning and controlling how one spends his or her time to effectively achieve goals and priorities.
She pointed out that time management involves organizing, prioritizing and scheduling tasks to maximize productivity and minimize stress.
She exposed the students to SMART analysis meaning, Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time bound, and She encouraged the students to set specific goals for a week, month, or term, to ensure that the goals are measurable, achievable and relevant to their lives and growth and set a time frame for the goals, whether it is a long or short term goal.
