No Means No: HFDI Warns GBV Perpetrators in Akwa Ibom, Osun and Kwara States

Hope for Family Development Initiatives HFDI has embarked on sensitization campaign in Akwa Ibom, Kwara and Osun states, against Gender Based Violence which is prevalent in the states.

 

The Executive Director HFDI, Ambassador Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele made the disclosure that the campaign tagged: No Means No is to ward off GBV perpetrators in the communities.

 

He added that silence is not consent and urged stakeholders to support the campaign against gender Based Violence, which is described as a menace to women and children.

 

Highlighting the challenges around the GBV cases, he reiterated the determination of HFDI, a non governmental organisation, passionate about the welfare of women, children, vulnerable and marginalised, to protect it’s target beneficiaries in the communities.

 

Addressing the Community Case Manages of the Organisation,  he added that “No Means No” programme is an evidence-based Sexual Violence Prevention, for protection of girls and women in Akwa Ibom, Kwara and Osun States, across few selected LGAs.

 

Speaking further he stated that as part of its sustainability strategy, the campaign training are stepped down to CCWs, who are trained as No Means No Instructors.

 

Ambassador Aremu opined that cases reported everyday shows a lot needs to be done, and templates put in place to safeguard women and children against GBV abusers and perpetrators.

 

He called on governments, security agencies, the judiciary, community leaders, religious leaders and particularly family of victims to ensure the children and women in their domen are protected against Gender Based Violence silence culture.
