Malaria Elimination: ACOMIN Declares Action On Prevention Strategies, Improved Access To Diagnostic Treatments

Accountability of Civil Society Organizations on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition, ACOMIN has declared call to action on prevention strategies and improved access to diagnostic treatments in order to achieve progress in the journey towards elimination of malaria in Osun state.
The ACOMIN called on governments and stakeholders for implementation of combination of measures, which include health education, promotion and community partnership to eliminate malaria, and other GC7 programs.
This was disclosed at the ACOMIN advocacy focused media meeting at state level, held at Omilas hotel conference hall, at the weekend, in Osogbo Osun state.
In his address at the media briefing, the ACOMIN state Chairman, Ambassador Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele highlighted that the sponsors has increased the beneficiary local governments in Osun state to eleven with twenty-two Community Based Organizations CBOs.
He noted that this is a fresh project period which will run for three years, and commended the CBOs for facilitating commitment of community stakeholders, which has yielded necessity donations into the Primary Healthcare Centers PHCs.
Dr Akinyele lauded the Osun ACOMIN Community Based Organizations, CBOs for maintaining good standard among the thirteen states of the federation, where the malaria elimination project is ongoing.
The State ACOMIN PRO, Ogunbamwo Henry in his summation states that the intervention of the stakeholders will influence improved funding and resources for primary health care delivery to enable robust public health program at community levels.
He added that each local government should commit to health promotion, increase awareness and community participation with adherence to evidence based strategies, while calling on community members to actively support their local PHCs through volunteering, donation of resources and participating in advocacy among others.
Similarly, the Osun state Roll Back Malaria Manager, Dr Femi Oroge asserted the determination of the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke to ensure that osun residents have access to qualitative healthcare at the PHCs.
He noted the commendation of the government on ACOMIN partnership based elimination of malaria, added that it is a good collaboration which is saving lives.
Also speaking, the ACOMIN partners, Society for family health SFH and Management Science for Health, MSH appreciated the CBOs for good service delivery, while charging them to the more.
The duo urged the Community Based Organizations CBOs to improve on their service delivery and continue to influence the community.
Also, on the part of the CBOs, the Executive Director FASDY, speaking on behalf of the community based organizations, urged all to uphold commitment to service delivery, adopt CAT approach on development work and he appreciated ACOMIN and the partners for the opportunity to work together in saving lives through health intervention.
The State Program Officer, SPO David Amoto presented the meeting objective and brief on the Global Fund malaria community led monitoring project being implemented by ACOMIN.
