All eyes on INEC: Osun People Keep Vigil on Result Announcement 

….as INEC Prepares to Announce Final Result of 2026 Governorship Election after collation….

It’s the day after the Osun Governorship Election, and yet tension and anticipation gripped the State on Saturday night into Sunday, August 16, 2026, as residents across the 30 Local Government Areas kept vigil awaiting the final result of the 2026 Governorship Election from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

 

From Osogbo to Iwo, Ede, Ikire, Ile-Ife, and Ila-Orangun, party supporters, civil society groups, and observers converged at collation centers and in their communities, monitoring the process and praying for a peaceful outcome.

 

At the INEC State Collation Center in Osogbo, party agents, security personnel, and journalists were anxiously on ground as results from the LGAs were being sorted and verified.

 

Even across social media platforms, all eyes on INEC to announce the winner of the 2026 Governorship Election which has major players as; Governor Ademola Adeleke, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and Hon Najeem Salaam.

 

Voters in many towns said they stayed awake to monitor updates on radio, television, and social media to ensure transparency in the process.

 

“We came out to vote peacefully. Now we are waiting for INEC to do the right thing and announce the true reflection of our votes,” a voter in Osogbo said.

 

Political leaders from both the PDP and APC urged their supporters to remain calm and law-abiding while the commission concludes collation.

 

Civil society organizations also called on INEC to ensure accuracy and uphold the integrity of the process, noting that the peaceful conduct during voting must be matched with a credible declaration.

 

Security agencies have maintained heavy presence at the collation center and other strategic locations across the state to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

 

Though figures are being speculated on who the winner is, but everyone is anxious to hear the declaration of winner of the Governorship Election, whether it will be Accord Candidate or APC candidate or ADC candidate.

 

INEC is expected to announce the final result and declare the winner of the August 15, 2026 Osun Governorship Election once collation from all LGAs is completed and verified.

 

As the night wears on into the next day, Osun people remain hopeful that the outcome will reflect the will of the electorate and further deepen democracy in the state.
