Police Arrest Man Caught with Little Girl’s Head in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old suspect in connection with the killing of a six-year-old girl in Ibadan.

In a statement released by the Police Spokesperson in Oyo state, Olayinka Ayanlade, the tragic incident occurred on April 11, 2026, in Adigun Village, Olorunda Ogunsola area of the city.

Police authorities disclosed that the suspect, identified as Sodiq Kayode Akorede, was apprehended following credible intelligence linking him to the unlawful killing of the minor, Mutiyatu Sunday.

He stated that, acting on the report, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed immediate deployment of operatives to the scene.

The Police said officers responded promptly and, despite resistance from an irate mob, carried out the arrest professionally while also securing key evidence.

Preliminary investigations, according to the Command, indicate that the suspect allegedly carried out the act and was found in possession of evidence connected to the crime.

The Police further revealed that the suspect has confessed during interrogation and has been taken to a medical facility for treatment after sustaining injuries during the mob attack.

He is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

The Command also cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, warning that mob actions could hinder proper investigation and justice
