Osun Government Formally Reveals 2024 Budget Expenditure
…as approved estimates is based on citizens’ needs across sectors…

Osun State Government, through the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development, in collaboration with the State Ministry of Finance, has revealed the budget expenditure for the year 2024.
This was revealed at a press Conference held in the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Finance, State Secretariat, Abere.
Speaking at the programme, the State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development, Professor Ademola Morufu Adeleke disclosed that the year 2024 budget projection, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, was based on citizens’ needs across sectors as approved by the State Government.
According to Professor Ademola Adeleke, the grand total of the recurrent expenditure of N164,060,976,700.00, and capital expenditure of N109,848,020,710.00 for year 2024 is Two hundred and Seventy Three billion, Nine hundred and eight million, nine hundred and ninety seven thousand, four hundred and ten naira (273,908,997,410.00).
He asserted that the 2024 approved estimates was not based on net financing, that is, loan, stressing that the estimates has taken care of debt commitment of previous administration with regard to debt servicing, as well as pension and gratuity. He said further that there is improvement in recurrent to capital ratio from 68:32 in 2023 to 60:40 in year 2024.
Fielding questions from the pressmen, he elucidated that the Office of the Governor comprises of the Governor’s Office, Office of the Deputy Governor, Office of the Chief of Staff, Bureau of General Services, Bureau of Government House and Protocol as well as Bureau of Parastatals and Bureau of Social Services.
He also pinpointed that the Internally Generated Revenue for year 2023 surpasses that of year 2022, adding that the 2023 budget performance, under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, had a considerable improvement over that of the former government.
Similarly, the Osun Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Adeola Ogungbile in his speech stated that the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke was able to raise about Two Billion Naira IGR monthly with an annual average of about Twenty Four Billion Naira, pledging that the comprehensive IGR presentation will be made available to the newsmen for public consumption in due course.
Lending her voice, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development, Mrs Yetunde Esan, maintained that the captured budget was raised through sectors of the government to project the citizens’ needs according to the agenda of Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the State Development Plan.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi in his summation appreciated the pressmen for being proactive, urging them to sustain the rudiments of journalism by balancing their reports without being lopsided.
He noted that the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke is always ready to disclose the true state of matters in the interest of the State populace.
