Oba Abolarin Urge Women To Embrace Education, Shun FGM and GBV

A first class Royal Father in Osun state, the Orangun of Oke-Iia Oba Dr Adedokun Abolarin Aroyinkeye-1, has urged women of his community to embrace education and shun Female Genital Mutilation FGM and Gender Based Violence GBV on women and children.

 

Oba Abolarin who addressed the women who are Kolanut and Bitter Kola sellers, at his palace in Oke-Ila Orangun used his advocacy tool to emphasise the need for the women to support their families, particularly in education.

 

Citing the life of his late grandmother, Madam Fayoyin, as a case study, he illustrated the impact of hard work and dedication to family.

 

He added that her legacy serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing family and education.

 

At the Kings palace, venue of the visit, he highlighted the importance of engaging with local communities to address critical issues like genital mutilation and violence against women and children.

 

Oba Abolarin added that by encouraging the Kolanut and Bitter Kola sellers to follow similar values, it is a form of creative empowerment to make positive changes in their lives and communities.

 

He maintained that by supporting their children’s education, the women can help promote a brighter future and break cycles of poverty: an agent of gender based violence.

 

He reiterated that the must shun Female Genital Mutilation FGM and Gender Based Violence which negatively affects women and children.

 

Appreciating the Kolanut and Bitter Kola sellers for paying him the visit, he added that the advocacy work is crucial in promoting awareness and driving progress on these important issues.
