Obtaining Driver’s Licence: No More Business as Usual – Governor Adeleke

…says Driver’s Theory Test must be strictly done…

By Kingsley Omoyeni,

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has stated that the newly launched Driver’s Theory Test(DTT) is one of the means of reducing accidents on the roads.

He said the DTT if strictly followed will no doubt put an end to quack drivers plying the roads, thereby reducing dangers to other road users.

The Governor stated this while delivering a keynote address at a one-day sensitization workshop put together by the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) for proprietors of Driving Schools and heads of Driver’s Licence Centers in Osun State.

The Governor who was represented at the programme by the Special Assistant on Transportation, Hon. Salam Hamid Adewale explained that a lot of driver’s who ply the roads don’t have adequate knowledge of driving which is why a lot of avoidable accidents occur.

According to the Governor, “The Driver’s Theory Test is a system that will ensure that prospective applicants for Driver’s License after training under a certified Driving School are made to undergo tests which include driving a car in the presence of Vehicle Inspection Officers before being allowed to capture for a licence.

The DTT will definitely sanitise motor and driver licensing services in the State for the benefit of all and sundry, It is no longer business as usual.

“Gone are the days where you can seat in your house and get a driver’s licence not minding if you can drive a vehicle or not, an has definitely come to this impunity which had been the norm”. He stressed.

Also speaking, the Sector Commander, Osun FRSC, Core Commander Inyang Umoh commended the efforts of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for making efforts to ensure safer roads in the State.
