Re-election: NAWOJ Congratulates Governor Ademola Adeleke on Victory, Says his name ‘IMOLE’ Speaks Significantly 

The Osun State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has congratulated Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke of the ACCORD Party on his re-election as the Executive Governor of Osun state, in the August 15, 2026 Governorship Election.

 

In a statement signed by the Chairperson Comrade Abisola Ariwodola and Secretary Oluwaranti Ojewumi, NAWOJ described the Governor’s victory with 511,067 votes as “the will of God and the confidence and trust of the people of Osun state.”

 

NAWOJ said the peaceful conduct of the election and the mandate given to Governor Adeleke is a reflection of divine favor and the trust Osun people have in his leadership, adding that his name IMOLE speaks significantly and attracts love, a gesture reflected in the votes.

 

“We see Governor Ademola Adeleke as a testament of God’s awesomeness. His first term showed compassion, accessibility, and commitment to the welfare of the common man, the people trust and love him, and it was displayed in the votes”, – the statement read.

 

Your re-election is not only a recognition of your achievements during your first term but also a renewed mandate and call to continue providing purposeful, people-oriented and inclusive governance for the people of Osun State.

 

“As women journalists, we are particularly encouraged by your administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and greater participation of women in leadership and decision-making and therefore look forward to a second term that will further strengthen opportunities for women, children and other vulnerable groups across the state.

 

While congratulating the Governor, Osun NAWOJ urged him to prioritize good governance, and inclusion, youth empowerment, women’s development and other initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of the people. as necessary, crowned with more development of Osun State in his second term.

 

The association specifically charged the Governor to increase the representation of women in key positions of government, appointments, and decision-making processes.

 

“Women constitute a large voting bloc and are critical stakeholders in nation-building. We particularly thank Governor Ademola Adeleke for his support of women in his first term, and we urge him to ensure more women are appointed into cabinet positions, boards, and agencies to reflect inclusivity,” NAWOJ stated.

 

The association also called for more policies and programs that support Women, Children, Female Entrepreneurs, and Girls’ Education across the 30 LGAs.

 

NAWOJ further applauded Osun people for participating people in the election conducted by INEC, which was described as free, fair and credible, and the Female Journalists association urged the people of Osun to continue to support Governor Ademola Adeleke and work with the administration to ensure peace and development.

 

“The election is over. It is now time for governance. We charge all Osun people, regardless of the party, to support Governor Adeleke so he can deliver more dividends of democracy,” the statement added.

 

As Professional Journalists, we worked with the administration of the government in the first term, and we assure Governor Ademola Adeleke of our support also in this second term, May Osun be Great!.
