NSCDC, Osun Govt Describes ACG Abodunrin as a Symbol of Professionalism, Good Ambassador

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC and the Government of Osun state has described ACG Hammed Abodunrin rtd, as an extraordinary career officer defined by discipline, courage, dedication and unwavering commitment, a symbol of professionalism to the ideals and mandate of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC and Nigerians.

 

This was disclosed by the NSCDC Commandant of Corps, CC Emmanuel Igbalawole of Osun Command, and Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Barrister Samuel Ojo at the passing out retirement ceremony held for Assistant Commandant General, ACG Hammed Abodunrin PhD, fde, ficss, mspsp, fisen, rpf, in Osun state Command.

 

In his speech, Governor Ademola Adeleke described the moment as reflection, appreciation and recognition of a life devoted to service, discipline and the protection of lives and property. He added that ACG Hammed Abodunrin has served with diligence and a deep sense of responsibility. His tenure in Osun State and other Commands of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps where he served has been marked by professionalism and a firm commitment to duty.

Emphasising that his leadership style, characterised by discipline and humility has left a lasting impression not only within the Corps but also among the people, he extended heartfelt appreciation to ACG Hamed Abodunrin for his invaluable contributions to security and stability.

 

Governor Adeleke affirmed that Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps remains a critical component of the national security architecture. “Its mandate to protect lives, safeguard critical infrastructure and support civil authorities is essential to maintaining peace and order in our society”. This is recognised and appreciated, and as government, we place a high premium on the security of lives and property, and we will continue to support all security agencies – he stated.

 

In his welcome remarks, the Osun state Commandant of Corps CC Emmanuel Igbalawole, stated that the retired “ACG Abodunrin who is known as a distinguished, erudite, gallant, outstanding, educationist, author, disciplinarian senior officer, has served the Corps and our great nation with distinction, honour and integrity, a vital role he played in strengthening the operational capacity and institutional integrity of the NSCDC”.

 

CC Igbalawole stated that as a State Commandant, “I like to acknowledge ACG Abodunrin for the vital role he played in strengthening the operational capacity and institutional integrity of the NSCDC, how his professionalism is marked by hard work, resilience and a steadfast dedication to national service. He has served this Corps and our great nation with distinction, and honour.

 

He highlighted that the NSCDC will not forget his leadership style – firm, principled yet humane, inspiring, confident, fostering discipline and nurtured the growth of countless officers and men under the various commands he served.

In his goodwill message, Commandant Toma Mathew Enya of Ekiti Command lauded the impactful leadership of the retired ACG Abodunrin who he said is appreciated by all, he added that though he is retired, yet development partnership will be made with him on future nation building.

 

He added that his mentorship, guidance and unwavering support, stating also that beyond his official responsibilities, he has been a pillar of wisdom, a source of motivation and a true embodiment of the Corps’ core values and integrity.

 

Also, the traditional ruler of the town where ACG Abodunrin hail from, the Oluresi of Iresi HRM Oba Sikiru Adeosun, of Boluwaduro East local government area of Osun state, described ACG Hammed Abodunrin as a true son of the soil, who is a good model, he defined him as hardworking, dedicated, trustworthy, passionate and a consistent achiever with good reputation.

 

Others such as retired commandants in the state, Chairmen of organisations in their goodwill messages commended retired ACG Abodunrin for being an exemplary officer who was able to navigate the principal elements of the nation, and embodiment of strength and good character concerned with protecting the people, and performing his role to enhance Nigerian security.

 

Reading the citation of ACG Hammed Abodunrin PhD rtd, the Edo state Commandant, CC Saidi Ayinla Akintayo reeled out his impressive qualification which climax with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Peace and Conflict, specialising in Personal Security and Child Protection (University of Ibadan, 2021).

 

He said his professional experience is integrated into the NSCDC system nationwide, his antecedents backs with awards in various categories, across the country, being also awarded as Fellow Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies (ficss), Fellow Institute of Corporate Executive of Nigeria (fisen) and Fellow, National Defence College of Nigeria (fdc). He stated that ACG Abodunrin is married to Alhaja Bintu Abodunrin with great children as blessings to the marriage.

 

Highlight of the retirement ceremony is the launch of six books, reviewed by Dr Mrs Mega Egberedu, who splendidly highlighted the books which include: From Voluntary to Mandatory Service, Paramilitary Ethics, Why Journalists Misbehave, Public Relations in Security Operations, Daily Security Tips, Language of Security Operation, authored by ACG Hammed Abodunrin.

 

In his vote of thanks, ACG Hammed Abodunrin PhD, fde, ficss, mspsp, fisen, rpf, narrated his history into NSCDC from a Journalist who covered and reported a fuel protest during the tenure of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, his employment into the Corps on Pro-bono, his trainings and contributions, postings to command, safe schools, programme and his roles.

 

The retirement ceremony was graced by representatives of security outfits in the state, traditional rulers, members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, religious organisations, educators, among others.
