The National body of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has commended the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.

In a statement by the NAWOJ, national Chairperson Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, stated that since the Inception of his administration, the President has continued to fulfill his campaign promises of ensuring Gender inclusion, by his appointment of women in key offices in the Government.

NAWOJ National Chairperson has therefore urged the women folk who are appointed to head key positions in this country, to serve with commitment, dedication, uprightness and due diligence in all capacities, and to remain as role models for future generations to come.

“All eyes are on women in leadership position; please, it is time to disprove the myth about the lack-lustre performance of women in governance, and prove to the world that women are imbued with the capacity to achieve results in whatever tasks they are saddled with.”

The National Chairperson further urged women to shun any form of misconduct which may tarnish the image of women or dent the integrity of womanhood by creating doubts on their leadership capacities.

Comrade Ibrahim further said: “Lead with every sense of honor and be proactive! We are women and we are proud to be one.”

NAWOJ tasked the newly sworn in Chief Justice of Nigeria to use her position in promoting the rule of law, national security and peace as well as serving her mother land with fairness.
