ACOMIN Records Success on Improved Healthcare Services in Year 2024, Needs More Government Support

Accountability for Civil Society Organisations on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition ACOMIN, has recorded success on improved healthcare service delivery in Osun State, Southwest Nigeria for year 2024.
The project, being implemented through partnered Community Based Organizations, CBOs in 13 states across the country, aims to improve the availability, accessibility, affordability, acceptability, and quality of healthcare services to people.
ACOMIN in Osun state under the Chairmanship of Ambassador Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele has its key challenge of lack of adequate health professionals, lack of gloves and commodities, and affected infrastructure among others in healthcare facilities in the local governments in Osun State.
Through the numerous Community-Led Monitoring project, ACOMIN identified several challenges facing healthcare facilities, commodities and other related issues at selected focal and non focal PHCs in Osun state and the organization have been working to address them.
Ambassador Aremu and the ACOMIN team at the Bi-annual State Media meeting on the GF Malaria/GC7/CLM project, which held at Omilas Continental Hotel Conference hall, called on Osun government to increase its healthcare delivery to the people of Osun state.
According to him, there is need for Osun government to solve the problem of old buildings housing health facilities which have deteriorated over time, thereby posing risks to patients and healthcare workers, the needs of the facility and providing medical personnel must be addressed.
Through the Community-Led Monitoring project, which involves community members identifying gaps and challenges, and advocating for change, monitoring the health services delivery, and evaluating its impact on the lives of people, contributes to the success story.
Speaking further, the state ACOMIN Chairman, Ambassador Dr. Aremu Stephen Akinyele, expressed his appreciation to everyone, and while reflecting on the activities of the non-governmental organization for year 2024, he also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of all organizations in Osun State.
The success story includes renovation of the healthcare facilities, donation of medical equipment, restoration of electricity and water supply to several facilities, among others.
In his remarks, the State Programme Officer, SPO David Amoto, also congratulated all for good work in year 2024, adding that dedication and loyalty contributed to the success story, and urged everyone to “gear up” for the coming year, emphasizing the need for continued hard work and commitment to achieving their goals.
He maintained that ACOMIN’s efforts in improving healthcare infrastructure in Osun State have been recognized by stakeholders, including government agencies and community leaders, among others, while he added that the organization’s commitment to promoting community-led monitoring and advocacy has helped to bring about positive change in the state’s healthcare sector.
