Voter Education: HFDI Empowers Grassroot Residents at Esa-odo Community, Obokun LGA

Ahead of the forthcoming Osun State Governorship Election, Hope for Family Development Initiative (HFDI) embarked on grassroots voter education in Esa-odo Community, Obokun Local Government Area.

The outreach combined advocacy visits, school sensitisation, and community engagement to deepen citizens’ understanding of the electoral process and promote peaceful participation.

The HFDI team paid an advocacy visit to Community Secondary School, Esa-odo, followed by a voter education session for students, as Voter education flyers were distributed to reinforce key electoral messages and encourage students to share the information with their families and communities.

The non-govermental organisation conducted one-on-one voter education at Esa-odo Primary Healthcare Centre, PHC and surrounding areas. Community members, caregivers, health workers, traders, and other residents were engaged on civic responsibility and peaceful election conduct.

Hope for Family Development Initiative HFDI affirmed to the residents that Permanent Voter’s Card, PVC is the only valid means of voting. Citizens were urged to confirm their polling units ahead of election day.

Highlighted that voting will commence at 8:30am and end at 2:30pm, and the Voters were encouraged to arrive early, and also charged to reject vote buying, vote selling, violence, and all forms of electoral malpractice, while emphasis were laid on Persons with Disabilities, PWDs, pregnant women, and the elderly receiving priority attention at the polling units.

The outreach increased awareness of the forthcoming governorship election, improved participants’ understanding of the voting process, and strengthened confidence in exercising civic rights.

HFDI noted that sustained community-based voter education remains critical to deepening awareness, promoting peaceful participation, and increasing voter turnout across Osun State.

The organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting democracy and accountable governance through civic education at the grassroots level.
