By Ope Bello,

The Osun State Government has recorded another major milestone in the health sector as the state emerged as the 5th best-performing state in Nigeria in public hospital care for the year 2025.

According to the latest nationwide evaluation released by StatiSense, Osun State secured the 5th position among the top-rated states in Nigeria based on residents’ satisfaction with the quality of public healthcare services and hospital delivery across the federation.

The ranking placed Gombe State in the 1st position, followed by Jigawa, Adamawa, and Niger States, while Osun emerged as the highest-ranked state in the South-West geopolitical zone.

The report noted that the assessment was based on citizen satisfaction, accessibility to healthcare services, and the quality of service delivery in public hospitals.

Observers have attributed Osun’s impressive performance to the ongoing reforms and investments in the health sector under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

In recent months, the state government has revitalized over 200 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state, upgraded health facilities, improved healthcare personnel support, and intensified access to quality medical services for residents at the grassroots.

Reacting to the development, the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Shina Igbalaye, described the ranking as a confirmation that the government’s investments in the health sector are yielding positive results.

Dr. Igbalaye appreciated Governor Ademola Adeleke for his unwavering commitment to improving public healthcare infrastructure and services across Osun State.

According to him, the governor’s continuous support for the revitalization of Primary Healthcare Centres, provision of medical equipment, and strengthening of healthcare personnel have significantly transformed healthcare delivery in the state.

He further noted that the recognition would motivate health workers and stakeholders to sustain quality healthcare services and ensure improved access to affordable medical care for all residents.

Stakeholders in the health sector described the ranking as a reflection of the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring efficient service delivery in public hospitals.

The recognition has also positioned Osun among the leading states in Nigeria’s healthcare development drive, especially in public health accessibility and patient satisfaction.

Residents and healthcare professionals have commended the state government for prioritizing the welfare of citizens through strategic investments in the health sector, expressing optimism that Osun could attain even higher rankings in subsequent national assessments.
