Osun CARES: Reveals Successful PforR on Adeleke’s implemention of 267 Micro Projects, Partners Media

…urge residents to imbibe maintenance culture…
Osun CARES project of Community and Social Development Agency, CSDA has revealed the successful Performance for Result, PforR of the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, which had implemented 267 Micro Projects in the state.
This was disclosed at a media engagement programme, where the media was partnered on Performance for Result PforR Initiatives on Osun CARES (DLI 1.4) project implementation, organized by CSDA, held at Ben Ber Foundation hall, Osogbo.
In her address, the General Manager, Osun Community and Social Development Agency CSDA, Mrs Funmi Abokede lauded the government of Ademola Adeleke for his support and for being development inclined by approving mico projects that enabled communities socially and economically.
While lauding Governor Adeleke for his focus, she added that his action plan, is in alignment with Osun CARES area of concentration which include: Education, Health, Water Supply and VIP-Toilet.
Mrs Abokede asserted that Osun CARES community action for resilience and economic stimulus is supported by disbursement link indicator, an index which has projected Osun state as the only state in Nigeria which is impacting lives and communities.
She added that the beneficiaries of the project are everyone in a community, and emphasised that Persons with Disability are prioritised beneficiary, with numerous success stories to back the intervention programme of Governor Adeleke for the various disability cluster, living the state at the forefront of states which has funded projects for PWDs.
The Performance for Result PforR presentation include the financing instrument developed by world Bank in response to demand for programs that help deliver sustainable results and build institutions.
It focuses on achieving concrete results, leverages on country’s, state institutions, strengthening capacity, support borrowers program, flexibility and performance based disbursement aligning with the growing emphasis on results based development.
The Finance and Account Director, Mr Akin Ogunsakin in his presentation stated that the program overview is supported by results framework, financing plan, institutional arrangement and eligibility criteria, and safeguard policies, flanked by monitoring and evaluation framework.
According to him, the Osun CARES DLI 1.4 project is beneficial to communities in the state, as it encourages programme managers to focus on what truly matters, improves efficiency and is available to world bank member countries, with choice of instruments depending on community/client needs and the development challenged to be addressed.
Buttressing the importance of the projects in Osun communities, CSDA urge residents to imbibe the culture of project maintenance and sustainability, by putting in place preventive and corrective measures to ensure safety, comfort and functionality of the project.
The Admin and Supplies Manager, Mr Joel Adedokun who informed the media that CSDA has standard which must be strictly followed in the course of project implementation, type and design among others, he said this is to ensure uniformity of all state government projects under Osun CARES program.
Coupled with social and environmental safeguards to make sure that the people and the environment are protected from risks by project activities, CSDA ensures that stakeholders actively participates, under the implementation of Osun CARES project to solve certain problems, without compromising health and environment.
CSDA highlights that Osun CARES is a replica of NG CARES under RA DLI 1.4 of the federal government, to protect livelihoods and food security of poor and vulnerable households, and facility recovery of local economic activity in all participating states across Nigeria.
Communities in Osun are lucky with the intervention micro project of the state government, facilitated by CSDA, by building of school block(s), borehole water, vip toilet, and Primary Healthcare Centres, which is a necessity, based on the request of the people, who pays 5%, while the government provide 95% to support the projects for the benefits of the people.
