NSCDC Osun Command Denies “Protest” Claims, Says Osun Election Duty Allowances Have Been Paid
…Payment Made in batches to Prevent Fraud…
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has debunked reports of a “protest” by personnel over alleged non-payment of allowances for the August 15, 2026 Osun State Governorship Election duty.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Command said there was no protest by personnel, adding that payment followed standard post-election verification procedures.
The clarification came against the backdrop of a post-election assessment meeting held by the State Commandant, CC Igbalawole Sotiyo, with Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and Tactical Commanders of the Command on Thursday 27th August, 2026 at the command headquarters in Osogbo.
The meeting reviewed the operational activities of the Command during the election and commended personnel for their professionalism and commitment to duty, which contributed to the peaceful conduct of the election.
According to the State Commandant,CC Igbalawole Sotiyo, the election duty allowance has been paid, although there was a slight delay occasioned by mandatory verification of nominal rolls with State Commandants across the six South-West states, as well as the FCT, Kano, Nasarawa, Kogi and Kaduna, from where personnel were deployed for the election.
“It was after the verification that the disbursement commenced” Commandant Sotiyo said.
The verification process, which delayed the payment a bit, was to ensure that there were no ghost names and that every eligible officer was paid. That has been done and payment made,” the statement added.
Commandant Sotiyo who appreciated the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR, for his commitment to the welfare of the personnel urged media organisations to always verify information with the appropriate Public Relations Officers before publication, in order to avoid misleading reports capable of demoralising personnel ahead of future national assignments.
