NAWOJ Visits Aged Parents Of Late Taiwo Kekere Ekun, Pray God To Comfort The Family 

Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Osun state Executives, under the leadership of Comrade Abisola Ariwodola paid condolence visit to the aged parents and family of the associations Vice Chairperson, Comrade Taiwo KekereEkun who recently died after a brief illness.
Comrade Taiwo KekereEkun who was a revered and popular journalist known for her dedication and contributions to the field of journalism, passed away last Monday, 24th of June 2024, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in journalism and a void that will be difficult to fill.
Osun NAWOJ delegation, as part of its welfare role, with concern for her aged parents visited the family home of the deceased in Ilo-Elefo, Ilo ilesa, where words of comfort and support were relayed to her family during this challenging period.
The Osun NAWOJ Chairperson, Abisola Ariwodola, expressed the association’s deep sorrow at the loss of a distinguished member whose work has inspired many in the journalism community and the state and south west zone.
“We are profoundly saddened by the passing of one us Comrade Taiwo Kekere Ekun, popularly known as Iya KekereAkin of Fresh FM and presenter of Oke Agba on the same station. She was not just a colleague but a friend, a beacon of hope and an embodiment of the highest journalistic standards.
“Her contributions have left an indelible mark on our hearts, and surely we can’t forget her, we are pained and we understand your agony, and pray God soothes your hearts”.
“Taiwo loved culture, hence promoting cultural Royal heritage and educating children, who are future generations on Yoruba language, tradition and norms through her Kekere-Akin content. We are concerned about the fate of this children also, she will be greatly missed, our rare gem in journalism is gone, we thank God for her impactful life,” – the chairperson stated.
The visit was marked by an atmosphere of solemn reflection as the executive members shared fond memories of Ekun, highlighting her professionalism, passion, and commitment to the cause of truthful and impactful journalism.
Family members of the late journalist expressed their gratitude for the condolence visit, where her senior brother, Victor Kekereekun stated that, it brought them solace to see how much KekereEkun was respected and cherished by her colleagues and everyone.
The NAWOJ state Secretary, Oluwaranti Ojewumi while giving her remarks reiterated the associations stance to the family, on support and honor of Taiwo Kekereekun’s memory through initiatives that will promote the values she stood for in journalism during her lifetime.
