GTBank Apologises To Customers Over Unsmooth Services

GTBank has issued apology to its customers following its unsmooth service disruptions caused by the recent upgrade of its core banking system.

In a statement addressing the challenges encountered during the transition, the bank expressed regret for the delays and interruptions, reassuring customers of its commitment to delivering a superior banking experience:

“When we began the process of implementing the new Finacle Suite of Core Banking Application Systems, our goals were clear: to remain agile as we grow, adaptable, and most importantly, to improve your service experience. Yet, we must humbly acknowledge the challenges along the way.

“The process, though necessary, brought with it delays in transaction processing and interruptions to what should be seamless service and we sincerely apologise for this.

“We recognize how deeply this period of service disruptions affected your personal activities and business operations and we thank you for standing with us through it all, offering grace in times of frustration. Thank you for believing in us and allowing us the privilege of continuing to serve you. We are grateful beyond measure.”

Recall Tribune Online reported that Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) trended on Nigerian social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), as customers expressed frustration and disappointment over what they described as the bank’s poor service delivery lately.

Numerous complaints surfaced, with users alleging unauthorised deductions from their accounts. One customer claimed to have been debited ₦400,000 without any explanation, and despite raising the issue with the bank, no resolution has been provided.

Meanwhile, on October 9, 2024, GTBank notified its customers of an impending migration of its core banking application system. The transition to the new and more robust Finacle Suite was scheduled to begin on Friday, October 11, 2024, and be completed by Monday, October 14, 2024.

However, the process faced unforeseen delays, leading to an extended timeline for service restoration. During this period, customers experienced significant difficulties in performing transactions, with many expressing frustration over being unable to access their funds.

Despite these challenges, GTBank has assured its customers that the upgrade was designed to deliver long-term benefits, including a seamless and superior banking experience.
