Osun Tax Laws Is The Same As Other States In Nigeria – OIRS Boss

By Adedokun Adebowale,

In accordance with the Nigerian constitution and tax laws, Osun operates same tax rates as being done in other states in Nigeria, alongside the principle of “Ease of Doing Business,” which the Government is committed to utilizing responsible taxation as a catalyst for business growth in the state.

This was revealed by the Acting Chairman of Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS), Alhaji Solanke Hamzat on a recent radio program tagged “Alaye Lori Owo Ori” (Clarification on Tax), a program put together by the agency to sensitised the people.

Represented by the Zonal Director, IIesa Zone, Mrs. Adepoju L.R., Alhaji Solanke emphasized that taxation is a constitutional matter governed by specific laws.

He reiterated that Senator Ademola Adeleke is a staunch democrat who firmly believes in the rule of law and cannot act contrary to the laws of the land.

Alhaji Hamzat urged citizens and residents of the state to fulfill their civic duties by paying taxes regularly. He noted that some taxpayers from outside Osun prefer to pay their taxes in the state due to the genuine nature of the Osun Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC).

The OIRS Acting Chairman also reminded employers to consistently deduct taxes from their employees’ pay on a monthly basis, submit their annual returns, remit the funds to the government, and obtain the Tax Clearance Certificate.

He encouraged employees of private enterprises to visit the OIRS Headquarters or Zonal Tax Stations to verify the status of their tax remittances and collect their Tax Clearance Certificates at no cost.

He however, warned citizens and residents to refrain from tax avoidance or evasion, stressing the importance of compliance with tax obligations.
