22nd National Sports Festival – Osun Contingent Breaks Records as Medal Haul Shoots Up

The new record surpasses previous ones by bringing the state into the top 10 – a first in the history of Osun State’s participation at the National Sports Festival.

 

Representatives at the ongoing National Sports Festival – Gateway 2024 – have broken records as the medal haul has exceeded 20.

 

The athletes, who are giving their best, have promised not to relent in their efforts to make the state proud, adding that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”

 

They extolled the Governor, Asiwaju Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for the recent cash awards given to athletes with outstanding performances and urged him to continue, as it has encouraged them to do more.

The state’s medal haul currently stands at 13 Gold medals, 3 Silver, and 8 Bronze medals.

In Weightlifting:

Edim Emmanuel – 3 Gold medals

Islamiat Yusuf – 3 Gold medals

In Taekwondo:

Osunkorode Deborah – 1 Gold

Aderibigbe Fatimat – 1 Gold

Awoniyi Mybarak – 1 Gold

Aderibigbe Faridah – 1 Silver

Adegoke Abdulahi – 1 Bronze

Popoola Amos – 1 Bronze

In Para-Powerlifting:

Muftau Rasaq – 1 Gold

Anifat Ganiyat – 1 Gold

Opeyemi Adefila – 1 Bronze

Golf:

Olapade Sunday – 1 Gold

Chess:

Akinjisola Sarah – 1 Gold

Kickboxing:

Fred Imuse – 1 Silver

Darts:

Ademola Garus Alaka – 1 Bronze

Athletics:

Ige Faniyan (200m Men T36/37) – 1 Silver medal

Balogun Mustafa – 1 Bronze

Scrabble:

Alagbada Jide – 1 Bronze

Judo
Henry Obeten- 60Kg-
1 bronze medal

Total: 13 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals, and 7 Bronze medals totalling 23 medals .
