Young Girls/Women Awareness On Political Involvement: HFDI Holds Sensitisation Workshop On Politics In Ekiti

With the aim of raising the awareness of young girls and women on involvement and inclusion in politics, Hope for Family Development Initiatives HFDI, German Foreign Office project has sensitised the female future generation about politics.
At the 4-days Sensitisation Workshop which held at All Saints Hall, Adehun Ado-Ekiti, the resource persons, Adedigba Adebimpe Programme Director Nigerian Youth Congress, Amb Segun Bankole Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria and others equiped the participants with knowledge of women’s political participation in Nigeria.
They highlighted Nigeria’s political history which has few women in the elective posts across the governments, adding that women are good leaders, and it is time for the narrative to change, for more women to emerge in the political sphere.
The female youths participants were educated on the importance of Women and youths in politics, and were also equipped with gender knowledge, understanding of gender manifestation in politics and elections, and concepts.
The female gender participants were also impacted with campaign strategies, media knowledge and its effective usage, and fundraising activities, needed for aspiration and involvement in politics.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Executive Director, Hope for Family Development Initiatives HFDI Ambassador Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele highlighted that catching female aspirants young is a booster to having more female aspirants elected as representatives of women politically and at various level of government.
He listed the women involvement in politics project, funded by German Foreign Office as a platform to enhance women inclusion and participation in South West Nigerian politics, with focus on Ekiti, Oyo and Osun state.
The Program Manager Adeola Falana commended the level of understanding of the young girls/women participants, adding that the knowledge step down, will be monitored to ensure that women participation in politics both in appointive and elective positions is greatly increased, in line with the objectives of the programs on Advancing Women’s Political Participation Through Female Elected Candidates In South West Nigeria.
The participants thanked HFDI for the initiative, and promised to ensure that they work as ambassadors of more women involvement, participation and inclusion in politics and elected positions.
