By Titilola Olaniyan,

In order to empower adolescents with self-confidence and public speaking skills, enabling them to effectively express themselves and reach their full potential, Hope for Family Development Initiative HFDI educated adolescents in Akwa Ibom community.

The talks facilitated by HFDI team,  Victoria Uyoh (Care and Support Officer) and Mr. Daniel Williams (Community Mobilization Officer), focused on the topic and its importance in everyday life.

Two adolescents shared their personal experiences of struggling with shyness and fear of public speaking, citing instances where their peers would laugh at them during presentations at school and church activities.

The interaction session levelled on the need to build self-confidence and overcome public speaking fears.

Mr. Daniel Williams in his session, focusing on the importance of positive self-talk, encouraged the adolescents to avoid self-doubt and instead focus on developing their strengths and improving their weaknesses.

He emphasized that everyone has unique talents and abilities, and that it’s essential to recognize and nurture these strengths.

The adolescents actively participated in the discussion, sharing their thoughts and experiences, and the facilitators provided guidance and support, offering valuable insights and advice.

The session was informative, engaging, and thought-provoking, providing the adolescents with valuable tools and techniques to enhance their self-confidence and public speaking skills.
