Osun PR Challenge 2024: Redeemer’s University Triumphs Yet Again
In a dazzling display of strategic prowess and communication finesse, Osun State’s elite universities converged at Redeemer’s University’s SEAP Hall for the highly anticipated second edition of the Osun PR Challenge. With the theme “Repositioning and Rebranding of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation to Compete with Top TV Brands,” the competition unfolded on Thursday, 9th May, 2024, leaving spectators spellbound and participants on the edge of their seats.
The atmosphere was charged with excitement as teams from Redeemer’s University, Adeleke University, Fountain University, and Osun State University went head-to-head, each vying for the coveted title. Led by esteemed judges including Mrs. Jolaade Igbaroola, Director-General of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, and Mr. Rasheed Bolarinwa, Head of Corporate Communications at Polaris Bank, the competition was fierce, with contestants evaluated on various criteria including knowledge, development of points, appearance, communication, and presentation skills.
In a gripping showdown, Redeemer’s University, the reigning champions, once again proved their mettle, clinching victory with a commanding 78% score. Adeleke University secured a commendable second place with 73.3%, while Fountain University and Osun State University claimed third and fourth positions, scoring 68% and 63.3%, respectively.
The event was not only a platform for academic competition but also an opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice in public relations education, as highlighted by Mr. Ademola Adesoji, Chairman of Osun State NIPR. He revealed that the challenge, conceived in 2023, aimed to provide students with real-world experience in the field of public relations.
Hon. Mayowa Oloso, Chairman of the Board of OSBC and Chairman of the occasion emphasized the government’s commitment to media and information dissemination in his opening remarks. He announced the forthcoming formal opening of the revamped OSBC by the State Governor, who would also honor the challenge’s victors.
The presentation of prizes was a moment of celebration, with Cast PR presenting the sum of #100,000 to the winner, Polaris Bank offering customized souvenirs to all participants, and Hon. Mayowa Oloso providing monetary support to all contestants. Osun NIPR added to the jubilation by presenting certificates of participation and financial support to all participants.
As the curtains closed on this year’s challenge, Redeemer’s University basked in their triumph and looked forward to hosting the next edition, solidifying their legacy as champions of public relations excellence. With their unwavering commitment to innovation and skill, they are poised to continue leading the way in shaping the future of PR education and practice in Osun State.
