Obaagun Day 2024: Gov. Adeleke, dignitaries all over the world to attend on Saturday

Obaagun, an ancient Community in Ifelodun LCDA of Osun state is set this week, Saturday, the 24th Feb, 2024, to host eminent personalities from all walks of life for the grand finale of the 25th Annual Obaagun Day and fund raising ceremony for Community Development.

Prominent among the who is who that will grace the annual event, the 25th edition, is the Governor of Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Wale Egbedun and Yeyeluwa Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, in her capacity as the Mother of the day.

Addressing a press conference to highlight series of events specially put in place to make this years celebration the best ever, Barrister Kayode Olowolagba, President,
Obaagun Development Union, (ODU) reiterated the readiness of the people of the town to make a difference this year.

According to Barrister Olowolagba, at the grand finale of the occasion which holds on Saturday at St. Michael Anglican Primary School, Iree road, Obaagun, there will be a fund raising for the various ongoing and yet to be commenced community development projects in Obaagun.

With the Olobaagun of Obaagun, Oba Jimoh Adebisi Okunade, Kayode Il, as the royal host, Barrister Olowolagba told journalists that the day will again, afford the people of the town, the opportunity to table their many requests before Osun state.

Government, especially on the urgent need for good roads and constant electricity in the town.

On behalf of the entire Executives and members of Obaagun Development Union, Olowolagba called on all sons and daughters of Obaagun as well as other dignitaries invited from all walks of life to donate generously to the course of the annual efforts aimed at giving the needed development to Obaagun land.

The trio of Aremo Gabriel Kayode Afolabi, Almaruf Oluyinka Ajibolu and Sheik Jabir Shittu are the sons of the day at the Saturday event, which will also provide the needed platform for the natives and non natives of Obaagun to openly demonstrate their age old love and support for the PDP led administration in Osun state.

In the meantime, Chairman and Secretary, planning Committee for the 2024 Obaagun Day, Hon. Nike Famuyiwa and Hon. Akeem Suleiman have been commended by Barrister Kayode Olowolagba led O.D.U for the series of arrangements so far put in place to make Saturday, a day to remember with fond memories.

In her own reaction, Hon. Nike Famuyiwa equally expressed gratitude and happiness with the love and support so far received from all sons and daughters towards making the programme a success.

Other highlights of the planned one week long program, include paying a special homage to the Olobaagun of Obaagun in his palace, by all the Baales and Chiefs on Wednesday. This is to be followed same day with an inspection of the on going multi million naira ultra modern Obaagun Town Hall in the evening.

Thursday is set aside for different indoor games like Ayo Olopon, ludo, table tennis and snooker. Friday,which is the eve of the grand finale is slated for a special Jumat Service at Obaagun central Mosque by 2:00 pm.

Same day, a novelty football match between Association of Bricklayers of Obaagun and their counterparts from Carpentry Association also in Obaagun will hold at 5pm at the main bowl of St Michael Anglican Primary School, Obaagun
