Leave Valuable Footprints in the Digital Space, not Nakedness -Experts Advise Youth and Adolescents

Experts at the pre-conference event of the 4th Nigeria Conference on Adolescent and Youth Health Development held on Wednesday, 13th August, 2025 in Port Harcourt have advised youths and Adolescents to leave valuable footprints in the digital space, not their nakedness or activities that will adversely affect their future.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the pre-conference, the President, Society for Adolescent and Young People’s Health in Nigeria (SAYPHIN), Professor Adesegun Fatusi admonished youths that, “your digital presence must not be about nakedness or unruly behaviour, but about quality, values and capabilities.

” He went further to encourage them to “optimise the opportunity of the conference to network and build relationships”.

There were various panel sessions that addressed how youths and adolescents can build online reputation, particularly by creating digital identities that will make them, not mar them.

The highlight of the pre-conference was the pitching competition which showcased various ‘apps’ that can solve problems such as mental health, obesity, nutritional issue, among others.

The conference, aptly themed “The Evolving Adolescent and Youth in a Digital Age : Building Resilient Young People in a Changing World” had Dr Obinna Ebirim, representative of Minister of Youths and Sports Development, development partners such as UNICEF, UNFPA, etc., NGOs as well as youths and adolescents across the 6 geo-political zones of the country.
