IGP Visits NSCDC Headquarters, Seeks Stronger Inter-Agency Collaboration on National Security

In a significant move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s internal security framework, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has paid a historic courtesy visit to the national headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abuja.

The visit, described as the first of its kind, was designed to deepen collaboration between the NSCDC and the Nigeria Police Force in addressing evolving security challenges across the country.

Speaking during the engagement with the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and senior officers, the IGP emphasized the need for stronger synergy between both agencies, noting that their shared mandate requires closer coordination.

According to him, improved intelligence sharing and operational cooperation are essential to achieving lasting peace and effectively responding to security threats nationwide.

“We must encourage one another as we confront contemporary security challenges. We often fight difficult battles in demanding terrains; therefore, we must share intelligence and operate as a unified front,” he said.

In his response, the Commandant General reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to enhanced inter-agency cooperation, describing collaboration, coordination, and cooperation as key pillars for effective internal security management. He added that the Corps is ready to strengthen existing frameworks with the police to improve operational outcomes.

He also urged citizens to become more proactive in supporting security efforts through timely intelligence sharing, drawing reference to community-driven models used in other countries.

The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and group photographs featuring top officials, including the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, and the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, alongside senior officers of both agencies.
