IGP approves promotion of 17,952 junior Police Officers

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across the country as part of efforts to enhance personnel welfare, boost morale, and reward dedication to duty within the Nigeria Police Force.

 

According to the Police leadership, the promotion exercise covers officers in Commands and Formations nationwide.

 

A total of 165 Sergeants were elevated to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals were promoted to Sergeant, while 17,714 Constables advanced to the rank of Corporal.

 

IGP Disu stated that timely promotion remains a key component of the Force’s human resource management strategy and an important tool for motivating officers to remain committed to their constitutional responsibilities.

 

He noted that the advancement of deserving personnel reflects the commitment of the current Police leadership to merit, career development, and institutional growth.

 

The Inspector-General congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to view their elevation as a call to greater responsibility, professionalism, discipline, and dedication to service.

 

He also charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, respect human rights, and remain committed to the rule of law.

 

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to rewarding hard work, promoting excellence, and strengthening institutional capacity in line with global best practices in policing.
