HFDI Renovates Toilets into Multi‑Point WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) In Kwara Community
As part of its effort to promote community-led monitoring and improve rural infrastructure in Kwara State, Hope for Family Development Initiative HFDI under the leadership of its Executive Director, Ambassador Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele has completed full renovation of abandoned toilet facilities at the only school in Ballah, Asa Local Government Area.
This initiative was carried out by the HFDI Kwara team under the N-THRIP project, with support from the Global Fund and Society for Family Health.
The renovation, fully funded by HFDI, was in direct response to a request made by the school during an advocacy visit on June 21, 2025. During that visit, HFDI’s Executive Director pledged support for the rehabilitation, noting that around 15% of HFDI’s beneficiaries attend the school.
A follow-up visit on July 25, 2025, led by the Executive Director and representatives from the Society for Family Health, allowed the team to assess progress and engage with the community to ensure the project met their expectations.
The community expressed deep appreciation for HFDI’s commitment, applauding the organization’s role in fostering development and improving living conditions in rural areas, and the Executive Director reaffirmed HFDI’s dedication to long-term, sustainable impact.
As of today, the renovated toilets are fully functional and accessible to both students and teachers—marking a significant milestone in HFDI’s ongoing mission to provide practical, needs driven support to underserved communities.
