ACOMIN SAT Advocates Recruitment Of Medical Personnel Into PHCs In The State

Accountability of Civil Society on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition, ACOMIN State Advocacy Team in Osun, has advocated to Osun government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke to recruit medical personnel into the Primary Healthcare Centres in the state.

 

The disclosure was made by the Osun state chairman of ACOMIN, Ambassador Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele during the advocacy visit to the Permanent Secretaries Hospital Management Board, Dr Abayomi Oni, and Ministry of Health Dr Isiaka Adekunle on Friday.

 

During the visit, issues affecting Iree Comprehensive health center in Boripe LGA, Sakasaka in Ejigbo as well as Iloro PHC in Ife East LGA among others were discussed.

 

The ACOMIN Chairman in the state, Dr. Aremu Stephen implored the Permanent Secretary to employ staff into the comprehensive health centers, so as to give room for ACOMIN to be involved in the developmental project of the state.

In his response, Dr. Oni appreciated ACOMIN and stated, that the government appreciates the effort of the malaria prevention organisation, added that it has been their desire to engage Community stakeholders in supporting the health facility at the Community level.

 

Speaking further he asserted that the state, Hospital Management Board board will set to work with the approval of the government, added that the process of recruitment is in process, describing it as a win – win approach for the community, stakeholders and the government.

 

The ACOMIN SAT also followed up on the intervention request made to the State Primary Healthcare Development Board through the SPHCDB Director, Dr. Akintayo A.O earlier in the month of June, 2024.

 

Issues such as intervention of renovation of Ife odan PHC in Ejigbo LGA and Shortage of staff; which also include Oke Bola PHC in ife East LGA among others were treated.

 

In his remarks Dr. Akintayo said the affected PHCs has been penciled down for renovations by the state government, and he added that effort will be made by his office to follow up and see that the renovation is done as soon as possible, adding that staff have been redeployed to some of the affected PHC, pending the employment of more by the state government.

 

ACOMIN Chairman Dr. Aremu Stephen appreciated Dr Oni and Dr Akintayo for continuous support, adding that the government ensuring access to malaria treatment, can be made possible with the availability of health facilities with medical staff for the benefits of Osun populace.

 

At the ACOMIN SAT advocacy visit to Hospital Management Board, Ministry of Health and State Primary Healthcare Development Board were the Executive Directors of Women and Development Movement WADEM, as well as Clean Environmental Protection and Humanitarian Development Initiatives initiative CEPHDI.
