ACOMIN Calls On Government To Provide Medical Gloves, Health Staff Available At Osun PHCs

Accountability of Civil Society Organisations on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition, ACOMIN has called on Osun state government through the ministry of Health, and the Primary Healthcare Development Board SPHDB to provide medical gloves and other essentials at the State Primary Healthcare Centres, Osun PHCs.
The call was made at the October Monthly Coordination Meeting, MCM held at the Conference hall of Omilas Intercontinental Hotel, where GF Malaria/GC7/CLM project discussion on health service activities of the Organisations, shows that medical gloves, shortage of staff among others is becoming a lingering challenge at the Health centres.
In his address, the Osun state Chairman of ACOMIN, Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele, reiterated the need for the government to provide health personnel needed to provide health services at the state primary healthcare centers.
Dr Aremu, who showed displeasure at the unavailability of health staff to give medical attention to the people of the state at the PHCs in the various local government in the state, emphasised that it is time for the government to employ health practitioners.
Maintaining that availability of medical gloves, health personnel and other necessities will enhance health service to the people of the community, he affirmed that saving lives is important.
Dr Aremu said that lack of gloves hinders treatment, and put medical personnel at risk, affirming that gloves protects health workers and others from communicable disease.
Addressing the Community Based Organisations CBOs on the project, Dr Aremu used the medium to announce the new community locations for the ACOMIN GC7 Community Based Organisations for effective service delivery.
The State Program Officer SPO David Amoto, speaking on available necessities, listed the needs as lack of electricity, security personnel, BP apparatus, rusted labour room trolley, no injection room, and no speed-manometer in some of the state PHCs.
