Abia Police to Arraign Woman for Attempted Murder of 12-Year-Old Niece

 

The Abia state police command has arrested the 35-year-old woman, Nwoko Gift from Imo State, who was caught on camera assaulting her 12-year-old niece, Miss Ebo Chimamanda, with a Kitchen knife, adding that she will be charged to court for attempted murder.

 

Reports gathered confirmed her arrest to newsmen in a press release, the spokesperson of the command, by DSP Maureen Chianaka, who said preliminary investigation reveals that on July 5, Mrs. Nwoko who resides at IBB Housing Estate, Umuahia, attempted to k!il Miss Ebo Chimamanda, who stays with her, on the basis that she refused to spread the clothes she was asked to spread before the suspect (Mrs. Gift) left for the market.

 

Investigation also revealed that the suspect has repeatedly beaten and has been threatening to kill young Miss Chimamanda.

 

Chinaka said operatives from the World Bank Divisional Police Headquarters, Umuahia, raced to the scene, leveraging on actionable intelligence, rescued the victim, apprehended the suspect, and recovered the exhibit knife.

 

The police PRO said the investigation is ongoing, as the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and the suspect will be charged with attempted murder upon conclusion of the investigation.
