UNIMED Students Earn Global Recognition in 2025 Millennium Fellowship
The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Ondo State students have been selected into the prestigious Millennium Fellowship Class of 2025 by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Millennium Campus Network (MCN).
The Millennium Fellowship is one of the most competitive student leadership programmes worldwide, with an acceptance rate of less than 7%. Each year, it brings together exceptional undergraduates from more than 100 nations for a transformative leadership journey that runs from August to December.
Fellows receive intensive training in leadership, advocacy, and project management while implementing social impact projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UNAI principles.
Remarkably, nine out of the ten selected Fellows are women, underscoring UNIMED’s growing role in championing female leadership, inclusion, and empowerment in higher education.
This achievement affirms that UNIMED is not only producing change makers but also driving a culture of gender equity where women are taking the lead in shaping solutions for a better world.
Reacting to the announcement, Kalejaiye Abolaji John, Student Union President and Millennium Fellow, Class of 2024, expressed pride in this achievement, “This recognition goes beyond individual accomplishments. It shines a global light on UNIMED’s dedication to raising leaders who are globally competitive, socially responsible, and impact-driven.
The fact that nine out of ten Fellows are women is especially inspiring—it reflects the power of female leadership and the bright future of inclusive excellence we are building at UNIMED.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe expressed her delight at the development and encouraged the students not to rest on their oars. “I am delighted at this development. This is indeed gladdening! It is exactly the direction we want to go. I want to see our students not just shinning nationally, but also becoming globally relevant.
I congratulate the new Fellows and encourage them not to rest on their oars”, the Vice-Chancellor said.
The students selected are: Boluwatife Ogunwole, Favour Chukwudebe, Gift Olubusola, Ifedolapo Oriade, Nifemi Obalokun, Olamide Oludoju (Campus Director), Oluwasekemi Osalade, Oluwatobi Muyiwa (Campus Director), Oluwatosin Ebiseni andTemitope Sowole.
The Millennium Fellowship Class of 2025 marks another chapter in UNIMED’s growing global reputation. It affirms that the University is more than a centre of academic excellence. It’s a Launchpad for leaders, innovators, and change-makers who will define the future of healthcare, education, and sustainable development.
