Prince Adetayo George Adewoye of the Ogboru Amodo Ruling House, Ile-Ife, has been conferred with the traditional title of Asiwaju Omooba of Amodo Kingdom.

The conferment was done by the Alamodo of Amodo Kingdom, HRM Alayeluwa Oba Dr. Mike Adebiyi Aderoju Adewoye (Erinjogunola I), who through the selection and approval letter dated August 24, 2026, said, the title was conferred in recognition of Prince Adewoye’s royal pedigree, character, leadership qualities, commitment, and contributions to the Amodo community.

The Alamodo in Council granted the royal consent following due consultation, in accordance with the established traditional authority and heritage of Ile-Ife and with the approval of the House of Oduduwa, under the leadership of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife.

Speaking during the installation and investiture ceremony held at the Palace of the Alamodo of Amodo Kingdom, Ogbon Oya Ile-Ife, Oba Adewoye urged the new Asiwaju Omooba to uphold the responsibilities attached to the title, which include leadership, representation, service, unity, and the preservation of the cultural heritage and dignity of Amodo Kingdom.

At the event, Oba Dr. Mike Adebiyi Aderoju Adeoye, Erinjogunola I, the Alamodo of Amodo Kingdom, praised Prince Adetayo Luqman George Adewoye as he conferred him with the title, he described him as a peaceful and gentle person who prioritizes the progress of his homeland and has continuously contributed to various development initiatives in the town.

“We trust that you will discharge these responsibilities with honour, wisdom and humility, and we look forward to the development strides that you will bring to the Amodo Kingdom” the monarch said.

According to Oba Dr. Mike Adebiyi: “Before conferring a chieftaincy title on anyone in the community, the person must be of good character. Prince Adetayo Luqman George Adewoye is a good man, which is why we are honoring him with the title of Asiwaju Omooba of Amodo Kingdom. He is a pillar of support, someone who can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with others on this journey. We decided to bestow this honor on him, because he has been doing good works abroad, and now he has returned home to support us in developing our town.”

The Alamodo of Amodo Kingdom, Oba Dr. Mike Adebiyi Aderoju Adewoye used the medium to appreciate the Yoruba land foremost monarch: “Our father, the Ooni of Ife, HIM Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, is a young and energetic leader. He is well-traveled and exposed, and even before ascending the throne, he was actively involved in community development.

Now that he is on the throne, those development efforts have significantly increased. We can all see the rapid progress happening across Ife land. Where there was once nothing, modern developments and infrastructure are springing up. All these achievements are proof of his visionary leadership.”

The Alamodo also conveyed his royal blessings on the new title holder: the Asiwaju Omooba Prince Adetayo George Adewoye and his wives, before traditional rulers, distinguished dignitaries, community leaders, friends and families, and prominent sons and daughters of Amodo Kingdom, who were present to witness the occasion and to congratulate Prince Adewoye on his installation.

In an interview with reporters, the newly installed Asiwaju Omooba of Amodo Kingdom, Prince Adetayo George Adewoye expressed his gratitude to Oba Dr. Mike Adebiyi Aderoju Adewoye, Erinjogunola I, and the entire people of Amodo Kingdom for the honor bestowed upon him.

He called for unity and cooperation towards the further development of the town. “My heart is full of joy, and I am deeply grateful. To be chosen as the Asiwaju Omooba out of thousands of royal family members in Amodo Kingdom is a great privilege. There are many of us, so to be distinguished and named the Leader of the Princes in my royal lineage is truly humbling. My heart is filled with gratitude.”

In her vote of thanks, the wife of the new Asiwaju Omooba of Amodu, Mrs. Kofoworola, who could not hide her joy as she expressed delight over her husband’s installation, described it as a well-deserved recognition. “This is a moment of great blessing. Today, my husband has been honored as the Asiwaju Omooba. I am extremely happy because this recognition is a testament to his good deeds and dedication.”

At the same event at the Alamodo palace in Ogbon Oya Ile-Ife, Oba Dr Mike Adebiyi Aderoju Adewoye also installed Chief Abiodun Olaleye Ajibade with the chieftaincy title of Bobakeye of Amodo Kingdom.
